About Sam

I am proud to call High Point my hometown, a city that has not only shaped my life but one that I am deeply committed to serving. Born and raised here by my parents, Coy and Sandy Carr, High Point's values of community, growth, and progress have been ingrained in me from an early age.

My educational journey has been closely intertwined with this city. I am an alum of Wesleyan Christian Academy, and I pursued higher education right here at High Point University, where I earned a degree in political science. This academic background has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the city's needs and challenges, and I have further honed my skills through a Master's in Communication and Business Leadership. This knowledge now fuels my dedication to the betterment of our beloved High Point, as I serve as the Director of Student Leadership and University Relations at HPU. I also met my beautiful wife Brooke while at HPU. We chose to lay down our roots in High Point because we both love this city and love its people.

But my commitment to High Point extends beyond the campus. I am deeply involved in our community, holding positions of responsibility and leadership that allow me to give back and make a real difference. I proudly serve on the Board of Directors for Open Door Ministries, where I've witnessed firsthand the impact of community support and collaboration. Additionally, I provide guidance to the Salvation Army's Boys and Girls Club, recognizing the pivotal role these organizations play in nurturing our city's future leaders. My involvement extends to the Chamber of Commerce's Young Professionals Committee, where I actively contribute to the development of our next generation of leaders. Furthermore, my role on the board of the Historical Society reflects my commitment to preserving our city's rich heritage and celebrating its history.

Having witnessed High Point's remarkable evolution throughout my life, I am inspired to take this commitment further by running for City Council. It is our generation's responsibility to carry the torch of progress, ensuring that High Point continues to thrive, and its residents enjoy the quality of life they deserve. I believe that through community-driven policies, strategic planning, and a genuine dedication to High Point's well-being, we can chart a course for a brighter future.
